Dr. Crowley, “I have been playing Baseball almost 10 years now, I am 17
years old.
I have played with some of the best talent in the country and held my own in almost
every competition. Even though I may be considered short in stature, 5’ 9”, I have
outperformed those that are bigger stronger and older than I am. But since coming
back from the Good Will Games in Australia last year I have been finding it tougher
and tougher to perform at the level that I expect from myself and have performed
at in the past. I find myself even in non-
PS. I was at work with my dad this week and I was looking through his
Baseball America
magazine and saw your ad He said something to me about you when he saw you on a program
on one of the cable channels, but I didn’t take him seriously But this is going to
be my senior year and I want to have fun at the thing I like doing most, playing
Bat I should have listened to him sooner now that I see that we are not that far
from each other Thank you for your quick response
On November 24th Dr. Crowley and I worked on things I checked off
in his baseball
survey such as 1) feeling a lot of pressure, 2) being
critical and judgmental of myself,
3) worried about people thinking
badly of me watching me play, 4) trying to be perfect,
5) inability to feel the release point, 6) getting angry at myself, 7) a humiliating
play and 8) over analyzing.
November 26th: I spoke with Dr. Crowley today and told him things have
gone real well.
“I am more relaxed and fluid in my swing. It’s nice and easy
now. I haven’t felt
like this in a long time.”
December 5th : “I played in two games today. I was pleased with the results. In the first game I was 3 for 3. In the second game I was 1 for 2 and pitched one inning where I struck out two.”
