BAS RUTTEN
UFC HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION
Hello everybody,
My name is Bas Rutten and I was a professional fighter. By ‘fighter” I mean a real
NHB (No Holes Barred) fighter. Not boxing, not Thai boxing. No. Everything goes...just
like in the original Olympics were in Greece. They called it Pankration at that time.
Punching, kicking, elbows, submissions (chokes, arm bars, leg locks, take downs
and while the opponent is underneath you, you are allowed to punch, knee, kick him,
etc.). All these things are allowed.
I was the three time King of Pancrase which was the biggest NHB event in Japan at
the time and I retired there as an undefeated Champion. When I moved to the States
from Holland I joined the Ultimate Fighting Championships. Since I had already beaten
a lot of Champions from that organization in Japan, I quickly became the Heavyweight
Champion here within one year. I didn’t lose any of my last 22 fights that took place
over a period of 5 years. And those where pretty much all against the best in the
world. But enough bragging about myself, let’s go to somebody who also deserves some
huge credits!!
I met Dr. Richard Crowley through my neighbors.
Now I, as well as many other fighters, have problems with pain and pressure from
the people that rely on us such as family, friends and fans. Pain, because you are
training and get injured and still have to train with that pain and that is not good,
especially when you get older. And by pressure, I mean the mental pressure, the attention.
Let’s get straight here. That’s the reason many actors have the same problems. In
fact, everybody who is known, even a little bit, has that problem because people
look at them, they watch their every move, and we all want to do good in everybody’s
eyes.
Well, that brings a lot of mental pressure with it. And look at me. Who even
knows
NHB fighters? Maybe only 0.01% of the world. And I felt that mental
pressure that came with all the attention I received. So I can only imagine the mental pressure that the people who are on the big screen, actors,
baseball players, football players, basketball players. etc have to deal with all
the time. I mean, the REAL big people!
Now for pain, you have painkillers. For pressure, you also have such things. But
I choose the combo of tequila shots and beer or wine as my thing to handle that pressure.
I made a fool out of myself many times, and thank God never on camera. I knew that
I shouldn’t combine straight shots with beer or wine. However, I can drink beer or
wine alone and still have myself totally in control. But once the shots came in,
I was gone.
So Richard and I met at my friend’s house and started talking. He told me that he
could help me.
I was really interested and I scheduled a meeting. After less than ONE hour I walked
out and NEVER touched a glass of tequila anymore. I don’t even like the smell of
it anymore. He told me that he could do the same for me with beer and wine, but like
I said, with that. I can control myself. It was the shots that were my downfall.
That’s it! I cannot say anything more. I never make a fool out of myself anymore,
and this is also a much more healthy way of living. So. Richard REALLY helped me.
I can recommend EVERYBODY who has any kind of problems to go to him. Man, I already
have like 5 friends that will be his new clients.
I have fighters that come to me who are really good in the training, but then when
they fight sometimes they “freeze up”. Now I tell them, go to Richard. He’ll take
care of you and you’ll feel confident again and win.
This is not an easy thing for me to say in public, as you can understand, but I’m
really happy that I met Richard and I want the people to know what he can do.
If you think that I am just a guy who says this and makes everything up, check out
www.basrutten.tv and go to the links section, you will know that this is real.
Best wishes to everybody and thank you Richard for everything!! (I know him personally through the neighbors, and that’s why I don’t call him
Doctor, but just Richard)”
